Upcoming Renovation

Four vertical panels show different views of an indoor space with polished floors, featuring a white appliance, a seating area, a long hallway, and a blue suit on a mannequin.

The Center received $562,000 from Congresswoman Teresa Leger-Fernandez and a match of 25% from Anchorum Community Health Fund, Masonic Charity Foundation of NM and Patten Energy for a total of $750,000. An architect will be hired after completing the bidding process. Key items are a new roof, windows and flooring and restroom renovations and more. Plans are to start work in early 2027 and finish by winter 2028. Updates of this project can be found at www.ElValleCenter.org

Pantry Update

Six hundred community families were served from July thru September 2026. The food is donated from The Food Depot located in Santa Fe. Deliveries are made to the Pantry on the first and third Tuesdays of each month and the pantry opens at 10am on those days. Otherwise the pantry is open Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 9-4 and Saturday 9-1. Monetary donations are being accepted to purchase food items or you can add items to your grocery visit and bring those items on any day we are open. Shelf stable items are always welcomed.

Deliveries from The Food Depot have decreased as they are getting less donated to them. Plus more and more of our community will lose benefits especially at the beginning of the new year when work requirements kick in.

The program to get donated dog and cat food has a waiting list. If anyone wants to buy either we can put a list together for those in need and contact them when we have some donations. If the bag is big we can divide it into smaller bags here at the center. Feel free to drop off a bag during our open hours.

The Tiendita

New donations are received everyday (feel free to bring your lightly used and clean items) and you will see different items each time you visit. There is a complete list of what we can and can’t accept as donations on our website, www.elvallecenter.org under services/facilities. Anyone needing items from the tiendita because of any hardship please let us know. We now accept credit and debit cards.

Your Libraries

To obtain a library card please provide proof of address and a card will be issued on the spot. Books can be checked out for a 4 week period. A designated book drop is available next to the entry door for easy returns. The library provides a place where people can do research, have a quite place to read or in the children’s library, a place to enjoy books, puzzles, and toys. The adult library is equipped with a computer for searching our collection and ability to search services provided by New Mexico State Library. Once you have a library card you can use the number on the card to access the state library services via our website www.elvallecenter.org on the ‘library’ page under ‘services’.

Upcoming Events

The Farmers Market held in the center’s parking lot (and in San Miguel) will end at the end of October. Until then vendors and customers are welcomed from 10 to 2 on Sundays and 4-6 on Thursday in San Miguel. A Harvest Market Festival will be on Sunday, October 18th from 10 to 2. There will be vendors, music and the center will be selling food and drink to raise money for the pantry.

The center will celebrate Halloween on Saturday, October 31st starting at 7pm. We plan on a trunk or treat in the parking lot plus a party inside the dining room with hot cocoa, goodies, and treats for all the trick or treaters. Want to participate in the trunk or treat? First prize is $100 for best decorated. Second and third prize is $50 each. Please call 575-421-0808 to let us know if you want to join in on the fun. The children would really appreciate it.
