Subject: Happy 251st Birthday, Marines! A Message from Your Chief Devil Dog

Woof Woof, Marines and Dogs of the Order!

On November 10th, Marines everywhere will stop to remember where it all began: in a Philadelphia tavern in 1775, before there was even a United States to defend. This year that birthday lands at a rare moment in our history. Our Corps turns 251 as America marks its 250th anniversary.

To honor the occasion, our 62nd Chief Devil Dog, CDD Joe "Woody" DeAngelo, has sent a birthday message to every member of the Order. It traces our Corps from the shores of Tripoli to Belleau Wood, Iwo Jima, the Chosin Reservoir, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan, and reminds us that while the battlefields and uniforms have changed, the heart of a Marine never has.

"Our history is written in courage. Our legacy is built on sacrifice."

— CDD Joe "Woody" DeAngelo, 62nd Chief Devil Dog
