Upcoming Events Power of the People. Power of Relationship.

Calling Up Justice is doing powerful collaborative work — and we want to celebrate you and the relationships that sustain movement.

We’re deepening our transformative justice practice, building on the rich groundwork Jesenia has been sharing. Thanks to our Crip Reliance Hub partners One Free Community and Disability Justice Culture Club.  

At the same time, we’re meeting with scientists and artists to co-create exciting new accessible work — because justice lives at the intersection of imagination and infrastructure. Maddei has us working on digital environmental justice! 

GJ has been creating visual art portraits of practice members — a form of self-care that also generates beautiful collateral we can use to promote ourselves. This is what it means to invest in each other’s wholeness while strengthening our shared visibility.

We’re launching several internships to upskill our community and grow ensemble leadership. Our Rapid Response Tech Team Trainings have begun — and the Canva class was a huge success. When we have the power to create and publish, we have the power to shape our own narratives.

Maiamama, Damian, and Claudia spent hours building on the new people-powered platform StreamPlace. Maiamama brought deep care to setting up OBS and testing sound until it truly worked. Five or six friends of the practice joined the stream to test its strength in real time. This is what it looks like to reinvest in our own ecosystems.

Ry has been participating in activities at GARDEN, a 24/7 virtual community center for BIPOC folks producing pandemic safety, and will be hosting a screening of Mouthwater’s work next week — extending our web of care and cultural exchange.

Instead of platforms controlling our relationships, we are building and strengthening our own.
