Spring Salutations
from Calling Up Justice!

Those who believe you cannot build community online are ignoring those who have already been doing it.

Over the past 6 years, digital meeting spaces have gone from rare or abstract to a daily part of our work for many of us. While there was a time when we were learning new applications all the time, most online spaces that continue have settled into one or two applications each -- and yet those applications have never stopped changing. It becomes easy to just start ignoring new features because we don't take the time to learn them, but this attitude also can mean surrendering when our favorite features disappear or change. It doesn't have to be this way.
In this 90-minute, hands-on workshop, we'll split most of our time as follows:
  1. Intensive on general presentation skills (which can be applied to any platform)
  2. Recap of Zoom features (where we'll explore the buttons we never press and why)
  3. Discuss the pros and cons of common platforms, as well as potential alternatives.
Participants are welcome to come and go as necessary, but pay attention to the agenda so you don't miss the section(s) you're most interested in. While it is important to participate via the device you use most often, you are welcome to have a second device on hand that is easier to navigate for learning purposes.

This training is designed and guided by G.J. Hodson, MA, CHW (he/they/she), a member of Calling Up Justice, One Free Community, and a proponent of community care spaces online.
