EXCITING NEWS!
Southern Pickleball Academy has been awarded a $15,000 grant from the Community Foundation of the CSRA to expand our First Paddle youth program in 2026!
This grant will enable us to offer five First Paddle programs, not just to children in the general public, but also to underserved youth in nonprofits such as Aiken’s Salvation Army Red Shield Youth Center and the Edgefield County Youth Empowerment Center. Programs launch in March 2026!

This past year was a busy and productive one as the Southern Pickleball Academy gave pickleball equipment to schools in Aiken AND Edgefield Counties, held a Battle of the Paddles youth tournament and the Reindeer Games tournament, and grew our First Paddle program. When her son Logan participated in our First Paddle program, Crystal saw the power of pickleball firsthand. With a background in Management Information Systems, she is eager to use her tech skills on our website and other platforms so that more families can discover what makes pickleball so special!

Caitlin Barry, First Paddle Program Director
As a certified pickleball instructor since 2017, Caitlin has taught clinics, camps, and community events, coordinating programs across multiple venues. Her collaborative approach and strong organizational skills will be powerful assets in her position as Program Director. Caitlin looks forward to creating friendly spaces where kids build character alongside their pickleball skills.
