Three books for the dance community![]() Three books for nourishing the dance community! With our hearts full of joy and hope, Espace Perreault invites the dance community and its audiences to take part in its new fundraising campaign in support of three unique and inspiring publications.
Using relational, sensory, botanical forms or forms that defy categorization, these projects are multifaceted conversations with the living world, touching on what is most intimate and distinctive about dance.
Thanks to your donations, Espace Perreault will lift up new voices and help nourish a dance community that is hungry for the words and thoughts of local artists. The three projectsWhat the authors have to say about them: Today and Today and Today, by Marie Claire Forté with Peter Boneham and guests![]() ©Alanna Kraaijeveld Part articulation of movement principles, part pretext to spend time with one of my favourite avant-garde artists, part experiment on writing about a dance teaching practice, and part conversation on life, this project aims to capture something of Peter Boneham’s sixty-year oeuvre as a dance teacher, and our relationship through and beyond dance. —Marie Claire Forté Excerpt: MCF How do you inspire people’s thirst, including your own?
PB The few questions I ask: Why are you here? What do you want to take from this experience? Is there something you want to leave behind? And I remind us: there is no work. This defends the idea that an artist isn’t doing work. We are doing what we are doing because we are compelled to, it answers a need in us… It’s also getting a vibe from people. Carnet de traces, zine by Sara Hanley![]() ©Marina León I would like to share a score with four artists – who will each cover one season – so that after our encounters we can create notebooks that trace our explorations and experiences of being present with the living world. These experimental, cobbled-together notebooks will be situated between archive and transmission tool, honouring relationships with the plant world and a sensitive ecology of the gesture. Excerpt:
Mouvement de passage, Le Radeau![]() ©Andréa de Keijzer Through dance, music, and a fully attuned presence, every encounter between a dancer and a resident of a long-term care facility becomes an ephemeral work of art. Featuring photographs, artists’ accounts, residents’ words, and interviews with care staff, the publication will present the world of Mouvement de passage. Let’s put our heads and our hearts together for a dance, a song, or a small gesture, both subtle and grand. Excerpt:
