TCY Community - Joy, Inclusivity, Connection

October was a lively and engaging month filled with school spirit and student participation at NOVA.

Highlights included NOVA'S Pumpkin Decorating Contest, where staff and students showcased their creativity through festive designs. Winners were selected through a school-wide voting process, with 1st place awarded to Ms. Beck, 2nd place to Ms. Saffold, and 3rd place to Ms. Burgess for their imaginative and well-crafted pumpkins.

We also celebrated Spooky Spirit Week, hosted by Ms. Saffold, Science Teacher. Each day featured a different Halloween-themed dress-up prompt, encouraging students and staff to express themselves, show school pride, and build community in a fun and positive way.

Overall, October’s events brought great energy to the building and helped strengthen school spirit across both students and staff.

El Puente's Student Council hosted an ice cream social and Pie-A-Teacher event as part of their Spirit Week activities in September.

Alex Meylink, English Teacher, was the lucky teacher!

In partnership with the Urban Ecology Center, Escuela Verde and the Newline Cafe  celebrated Dia de los Muertos, or "day of the dead" with a Noche de Altares, or "night of the altars" event on Thursday, Oct 30th and Friday, Oct 31st.

Check out this Milwaukee Journal Sentinel article to learn more about the festivities.

Thank you to all the EV staff for all your hard work putting this exciting event together!

Shalom recently celebrated students and staff with an incredibly fun Shalom Spirit Week!

The week was packed with themed days and activities that fostered community, celebrated school pride, and recognized the amazing work of our students and dedicated staff.

El Puente math teacher, Andrea Senske, brought some extra warmth to the fall season!

To celebrate autumn, Andrea generously handed out homegrown pumpkins to the students. It was a thoughtful gesture that brought smiles to many faces and added a little seasonal cheer to the week.

Escuela Verde has some exciting updates regarding the lot across from the school! EV is installing green infrastructure, a project that provides huge benefits to our community. This innovative system works by capturing and managing rainwater, which dramatically cuts down the amount of water flowing into the combined sewer system and helps prevent polluting overflows.

NOVA(below) and Shalom(above) students attended the MPS Skilled Trade and Technical Fair, an event focused on opening doors to rewarding career paths.

It was a chance to explore the many opportunities in the trades and make connections with local unions and organizations!

Students at NOVA recently had the exciting opportunity to step behind the mixing board and experience the exciting world of music production in a dynamic, hands-on workshop!
