If you're a new volunteer, partner, or donor (or just a curious community member) here's a little bit about us...
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul Archdiocese of Santa Fe is a lay Catholic organization that exists to deliver loving and compassionate person-to-person assistance in building a path out of poverty. We serve all, primarily in the areas of food provision and homelessness prevention. Our services are low-barrier, culturally responsive, and equity-based—as residents from an area are positioned to serve their neighbors.
Our organization works across much of New Mexico through a network of 39 local SVdP Conferences (chapters) at local parishes. Each Conference is made up completely of volunteers. These volunteers each distribute assistance to their regional communities through relational visits where they get to know the community member and the need firsthand. Through rental assistance, utility help, food, and clothing, these SVdP volunteers carry out the work of keeping people housed and fed. Of these 39 local aid groups, 19 have formal food distributions.
Last year, SVdP distributed $2M in rental and utility assistance and $3M in food essentials with 98,000 neighbors in need benefitting from our support. Our volunteers invested 65,000 hours in helping to keep their neighbors housed and fed through more than 33,000 person-to-person visits.
