 August 23, Newsletter  Cross Country kicks off this Tuesday! Students in kindergarten through 5th grade are invited to join Mr. Bekedam for practices every Tuesday and Thursday morning from 7:45-8:20 AM. Your student should consider joining to harness sportsmanship, health, and introduce them to the love of running. A medical clearance is required before students can participate, and both the signup form and medical clearance form are available in the front office. Donations Needed Lineweaver PTO is holding a Snack Drive to help keep classrooms stocked with healthy snacks for students who may forget or be unable to bring one from home. We are collecting individually packaged, nut-free snacks that meet current Arizona and TUSD nutrition guidelines, including applesauce, fruit crisps, fruit cups in water, baked chips, whole grain pretzels, popcorn, whole wheat crackers, graham crackers, and granola bars. Donations can be dropped off at the front office or purchased through the PTO’s Amazon Wishlist for delivery directly to Lineweaver. Every donation helps make sure students have the fuel they need to stay focused and ready to learn. Upcoming Events August 27, 7-8pmThis upcoming Thursday August 27, from 7:00-8:00 p.m. the Fall Festival Planning Committee will meet. Fall Festival InformationFall Festival planning is officially underway! This year’s festival will take place on Friday, November 13, beginning at 4:00 PM, and we are hoping to make it an especially big celebration as Lineweaver marks its 70th birthday. We want this year’s festival to feel like a true community event, bringing together our families, friends, neighbors, and local businesses. We are very open to ideas for activities, attractions, and other ways to make the celebration special. We are also looking for local businesses interested in sponsorship opportunities or other ways to participate and support the event. Creating a Bike Bus We are working with Living Streets Alliance to see if there is interest in starting a bike bus to Lineweaver! A bike bus is a group of students and families who ride their bikes to school together along a planned route, picking up additional riders at designated stops along the way. It is a fun way to get to school, build community, and make biking feel safer and more comfortable for families who may not want to ride alone. Right now, we are only gauging interest to see whether enough families would like to participate.
