Donor Update

August 3rd 2026

Last fall, we shared some difficult news. Our donation platform unexpectedly filed for bankruptcy, impacting many nonprofits, including Learning 4 Life Farm.

A choropleth map of the United States displays the total amount owed by Flipcause to nonprofits by state, with a legend indicating the dollar ranges represented by different shades of green.

We were one of more than 3,200 nonprofits impacted by the Flipcause bankruptcy*. The collapse of the fundraising platform left approximately $29 million in charitable donations owed to nonprofit organizations nationwide, including more than $8,000 designated for Learning 4 Life Farm's student programming.

While the funds lost through the bankruptcy have not been recovered, the farm has continued to grow. We've welcomed students to the farm, expanded programming, built new community partnerships, and continued creating meaningful learning experiences for the youth and young adults we serve.

We believe transparency is an important part of earning and keeping the trust of our community. If you'd like to stay informed about the Flipcause bankruptcy proceedings or learn more about the resources available to affected nonprofits, you can find updates here:

Since the bankruptcy, we've spent a great deal of time following updates, reviewing recommendations from trusted nonprofit organizations, and making sure we've taken every step available to us.

That process led us to Zeffy, a platform built specifically for nonprofits that reflects the level of transparency and stewardship we want our donors to expect from us. While many questions remain unanswered, we've done our best to navigate the situation responsibly and transparently.

We continue to monitor the bankruptcy proceedings and follow guidance from trusted nonprofit resources. Reporter Rasheed Shabazz with Oakland Voices continues to provide updates on the case and related litigation. At this time, recovery of funds for affected nonprofits remains unlikely.

While this chapter has been challenging, it has also reminded us how fortunate we are to have a community that believes in our mission.

Thank you for your continued support, your trust, and for being part of the Learning 4 Life Farm family. We look forward to sharing more updates, stories, and opportunities to connect with you in the months ahead. One of the best ways to stay connected is through our newsletter, where we share monthly student updates, upcoming events, and the latest news from the farm.

With gratitude,

-Your Learning 4 Life Team
