Bandology – More music for more kids
|
Thank you to everyone who made music with us in 2025!
|
We had a wonderfully busy year and can’t wait to bring more camp, workshops and library loans to the community in 2026
|
As we wrap up another amazing year at Bandology, we want to extend our thanks and gratitude to all the families, parents, students, mentors, staff and community members for making music with us. We can’t thank you all enough for your continued support!
|
From our Bandology family to yours, we wish you happy holidays and all the best for 2026!
|
Sincerely,
The Bandology 2025 Team

Our Accomplishments in 2025
|
This past year has been one of the most exciting years we've had at Bandology! Take a look back at our highlights from 2025:
-
Band Camp ran in three locations and had a record breaking number of campers make music together, both familiar faces and new friends
-
Our third annual March Break Music Break in partnership with the Laurier Academy of Music and Arts – what a fabulous week of music making!
-
29 brilliant young volunteers participated in our camp programs as Music Mentors
-
We had 89 students in Halton, Kitchener-Waterloo and Guelph borrow instruments from our Instrument Lending Library – from the piccolo to the tuba and everything in between
-
Over 75 instrument donations were received throughout the year, including a mass donation from the Estate of Michael Henry – we are thrilled to be adding so many new instruments to our library
-
With the support and encouragement of the Salvation Army Oakville Community Church, we successfully inventoried and moved our entire Instrument Lending Library to their secure location
-
We ran nearly 125 music making workshops throughout southern Ontario on topics including composition, theory, rhythm and more
-
The official launch of our corporate team building series of workshops
-
Over 4,500 people joined us at community events throughout the year –festivals, fun fairs and all sorts of community gatherings
-
Bandology was honoured to be a finalist for the CN Altruism Award at the Oakville Chamber Business Awards
-
We had 13 staff join the team this year, thanks to the Canada Summer Jobs program and the Ontario Trillium Foundation
-
Our Executive Director attended four new conferences for Bandology, at the Music Educators Associations in Texas, New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland
-
She also returned to the Ontario Music Educators’ Association for the seventh time in a row to talk about the power of community music making
-
We commissioned a new piece from a local composer in Kitchener – Last Flight of the Aurora had its world premiere at Band Camp Kitchener-Waterloo under the direction of Dr. Leah McGray

Music Education is Important!
|
“Music education is important to me because, well, it's the reason I do my job and I can't imagine doing anything else. I absolutely love teaching music, as it really engages students in a way that no other subject does.
|
Playing an instrument engages the artistic side of your brain with your physical being in a way that nothing else really does.”
|
– Bailey Dugas, Bandology board member, music teacher and guest vocal clinician
