Pine Hills Community Council President's Message

From the President

What Have We Done For You Lately?

Dear PHCC Members and Community,

As we reflect on the past several months, I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished together. Through advocacy, collaboration, and community engagement, the Pine Hills Community Council has continued working to strengthen and celebrate our community while advancing our mission of Preserving a Clean, Safe & Prosperous Community.

Since our last newsletter, PHCC has celebrated several exciting milestones, including the grand openings of the Orange County Innovation Center, the Multicultural Senior Center, and Barnett Villas, as well as the anniversary celebration of Key West Foods on West Colonial Drive. We have also remained actively engaged in important community initiatives, including the Pine Hills Septic-to-Sewer Retrofit Project, the Pine Hills Safe Neighborhood Partnership and the Orlo Vista United Safe Neighborhood BBQ, the African American Chamber of Commerce Hob Nob, and our Juneteenth Adopt-A-Road Cleanup. Each effort reflects our commitment to improving quality of life and strengthening Pine Hills for future generations. We also hosted Central Florida’s Premier Hob Nob & Straw Poll, which welcomed over 500 attendees and saw over 330 ballots cast in our straw poll.

None of this work would be possible without the dedication of our Board of Directors, committee chairs, volunteers, community partners, elected officials, sponsors, businesses, and—most importantly—our residents. Your continued support enables PHCC to remain the trusted voice of the Pine Hills community.

As you continue reading, you will find details about our August 4 General Meeting and Back-to-School Backpack Giveaway, membership news and our Member Spotlight, a PHCC Historical Moment, upcoming community meetings and events, recent highlights from around Pine Hills, and a Sponsor Spotlight recognizing the organizations whose partnership helps make our work possible.

Thank you for your continued support and belief in our community. Together, we will continue Setting the PACE for a Better Pine Hills through Participation, Accessibility, Collaboration, and Excellence.

Together, We Can Make A Difference.

Honoring Our History

PHCC Historical Moment

Robinswood Community Improvement Association (RCIA)

In 1999, the Robinswood Community Improvement Association, Inc. was established by dedicated community members. In the early 2000s, the organization formally incorporated with the State of Florida and collaborated with community partners, including PHCC. In 2002, RCIA was recognized through the Orange County Neighborhood Enhancement and Achievement Awards.

Did you know? One of RCIA’s founders, Luis Torres, is the great-grandfather of PHCC’s current President, Julien Serrano-O’Neil. A commitment to community service is a legacy shared by many Pine Hills families.

Preserving Pine Hills’ Story

The PHCC / Pine Hills Historical Commission is working to collect, preserve, and share photographs, documents, newspaper clippings, meeting records, oral histories, and community memories that tell the story of Pine Hills and PHCC. These efforts will help honor legacy leaders, strengthen our community’s public narrative, and preserve this history for future generations.

Residents should expect intermittent lane closures along Pine Hills Road between 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM. Roadway impacts will be temporarily restored to maintain vehicle access. Please use caution near construction equipment, as visibility may be limited and ground compaction may cause temporary vibrations.

Monday, July 20 – Friday, July 24

🕗 Construction Hours
8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

🚧 Traffic Advisory
Lane closures will occur as needed along Pine Hills Road. Please allow extra travel time and use caution in active work zones.

🗑️ Trash & Recycling
Place all trash and recycling containers curbside by 6:00 AM. Construction crews will relocate containers when necessary to maintain collection. If yard waste collection is obstructed, please hold yard waste until collection trucks can safely access your street.

If your trash, recycling, or yard waste collection is missed due to construction, contact the Orange County Solid Waste Hotline at 407-836-6601 or report the issue through Orange County 311.
