Summer 2026 Newsletter

Hello Parker,

As summer arrives in Anne Arundel County, we are reminded of the strength, dedication, and community spirit that make agriculture in our county so special. This season’s newsletter highlights the many ways our Farm Bureau continues working to support local agriculture, invest in future generations, and provide opportunities for our members to connect and grow.

Inside, you’ll find announcements celebrating our scholarship recipients, information about the Maryland Young Farmers & Ranchers summer picnic and concert, details on an upcoming women’s cattle working workshop, updates on the Arundel Grown event, and information about Maryland Agricultural Education Foundation’s Ag in the Classroom activities.

We are proud to advocate for and strengthen agriculture in Anne Arundel County through education, outreach, leadership development, and community engagement. Thank you for your continued support and involvement in our agricultural community. We hope you enjoy this edition of the newsletter and encourage you to take advantage of the opportunities and events highlighted inside.

Board Meeting Invitation

Our next meeting is June 8th, 2026 at 7pm at the Maryland Farm Bureau office.  All members are welcome to attend!

New Agricultural Science Career Institute Opens at Southern High School

June 3, 2026 - Anne Arundel County Public Schools has announced the launch of a pilot Agricultural Science Career Institute at Southern High School, creating an exciting new opportunity for students interested in agriculture, natural resources, and related career pathways.

The Agricultural Science Career Institute will allow students from AACPS Network 3 schools—including Annapolis, Broadneck, Crofton, South River, and Southern High Schools—to explore their interests, talents, and abilities in a highly specialized and rigorous educational environment outside of their home school. Through this program, students will have access to Southern High School’s established agricultural education program and unique learning opportunities that prepare them for careers and continued education in the agricultural industry.

Students interested in participating in the Agricultural Science Career Institute can now apply, with applications due by June 12.

The Anne Arundel County Farm Bureau has long championed the expansion of agricultural education opportunities within our county. As advocates for agriculture and the next generation of agricultural leaders, we are thrilled to see this vision become a reality. Expanding access to agricultural education helps ensure that more students can discover the diverse career opportunities available in agriculture while developing valuable leadership, technical, and life skills.

We encourage our members to help spread the word about this exciting opportunity. Please share this newsletter with friends, neighbors, educators, and families who may know students interested in agriculture. Together, we can help connect more young people with the educational experiences that will strengthen the future of agriculture in Anne Arundel County.
