Breaking: Every minute of the next six days matters for faith freedom in Canada. This window could change everything.
Let me explain...
I just finished participating in what may be one of the most important briefings we have ever been a part of.
MP Andrew Lawton, the Honourable Stockwell Day, and representatives from leading political action groups across Canada joined for an urgent call about the rapid developments surrounding Bill C-9 and the most important actions needed in the next 4-6 days.
There is now a very high probability that this hate-speech legislation could be brought to a vote in the House of Commons on Friday.
Both MP Lawton and the Hon. Stockwell Day confirmed that if it passes the House, it will be very difficult to stop in the Senate.
We urge you to pause whatever you are doing and engage in this moment by making phone calls.
Every voice matters, but our leaders will be especially listening for calls from the urban centres (Toronto, Vancouver, Atlantic Canada...any city) where the swing ridings for the next election will be.
The next 4-6 are critical, and our leaders (particularly the Liberal party) need to know how much Canadians care about this issue.
We understand this message may sound alarmist, but we cannot overstate the urgency of this moment as it relates to the future of religious freedom in Canada: if this bill passes, pastors (or anyone) could go to prison for sharing their sincerely held faith beliefs on sensitive issues such as sexuality or life.
We have 4-6 days to stop it.
