Your Child's PTO Needs You

We want to be transparent about something. Most of our PTO meetings are attended almost entirely by board members. Even our Fall Festival planning meetings, for one of our biggest events of the year, have sometimes had just two people in attendance: the event planner and the PTO president.

That's concerning to us, not just because there's a lot of work to do, but because we're missing the voices of the families we are supposed to represent.

The PTO doesn't exist simply to raise money. We raise money so we can do something meaningful with it. We support teachers, provide classroom resources, create extracurricular opportunities, help students and families in need, and bring our school community together. But deciding what those opportunities should look like shouldn't fall to just a handful of people.

We don't want to be a small group of parents deciding what's best for everyone else's children. We want to hear from the families whose children we're working to support.

What does your child wish they could do at school? What resources are missing? What would help your family feel more connected? What ideas have we not even considered because nobody has brought them to the table?

There are nearly 500 students at Lineweaver, each with a family that brings different experiences, perspectives, and talents to our community. We want to hear from you, even if you disagree with something we're doing. Especially then. Your input helps us make better decisions.

And yes, we need volunteers. Behind every event, club, and initiative are parents and staff giving their personal time, and right now much of that responsibility falls on very few people. Our Fall Festival on November 13 will need a significant number of volunteers, and we will be sharing opportunities to help next week. Without enough support, some of what we are planning simply won't be possible.

But participation does not have to mean taking on a major responsibility. Come to a meeting. Send us an idea. Tell us what we're missing. Help for 15 minutes when you can. We understand that families have different schedules and circumstances, and not everyone can contribute in the same way.

We want Lineweaver to be more than a school where we drop off our children each morning. We want it to be a community where families know each other, where children have opportunities beyond the classroom, and where parents feel they have a genuine voice in what happens.

You don't need to donate money to contribute something valuable.

You don't need to hold a board position to have an opinion. And you don't need to wait for an invitation to participate.

If your child attends Lineweaver, this is your PTO, too. We want you to be part of what we are building.

Have an idea, suggestion, concern, or just something you'd like us to know? Email us directly or simply reply to this email. We genuinely want your feedback.

Did you Know?

The Lineweaver PTO helped secure a sponsorship from Fleet Feet to provide new shoes for 24 students whose families may need a little extra support.

This effort was made possible through our partnership with Lineweaver's Family Engagement Team, which works closely with teachers and staff to identify and support students facing challenges that others may take for granted.

Something as simple as a properly fitting pair of shoes can make a meaningful difference in a child's school day. Every student deserves to feel comfortable, confident, and ready to learn, without worrying about whether they have the basic essentials to participate.

A special recognition goes to Mrs. Higgins, whom many of you may recognize as one of our crossing guards during morning drop-off and afternoon pickup. What you may not see is the incredible amount of work she does behind the scenes to support our students and families. She works tirelessly to identify needs, connect families with resources, and make sure students have the support they need to succeed.

We are grateful to Fleet Feet, Mrs. Higgins, and our Family Engagement Team for helping remove these barriers so our students can focus on what matters most: learning, growing, and being kids.

Sunday Funday

This week's Sunday Funday was a little wetter than expected, but the kids had a great time playing in the rain! Thankfully, there was no lightning, so they could enjoy the morning despite the weather.

We would love to see more Lineweaver families join us! Sunday Funday is simply a chance for kids to play and parents to connect outside of school. No meetings, no fundraising, and no agenda. Just an easy way to build friendships and community.

We will be at Himmel Park every Sunday from 8:00–10:00 AM, usually near the kids' playground off Tucson Boulevard.

Bring the kids, a snack, an activity, or nothing at all. Stay for 20 minutes or the whole morning. No RSVP or commitment needed. Just come hang out!
