Who Should Attend?

This training is for a team of professionals to attend with their supervisor. For example, a supervisor would attend with two or more ILP staff, Head Start teachers or PAT Home Visitors.

Priority will be given to team applications. Individuals who are part of an agency who has participated in the FAN Practitioner training in the past can apply upon approval of their supervisor. The training will be limited to 24 participants.

There will be a second FAN training beginning in March 2027 for those who may not secure a space in the September 2026 training.

What is Facilitated Attuned Interaction Training?

The FAN approach serves as a framework for parent/client engagement and reflective practice in work with young children and their families. The FAN focuses on parents'/clients' urgent concerns and helps practitioners tailor responses to match what parents/clients need most in the moment. The FAN also helps practitioners recognize how their own internal sense of regulation/dysregulation affects their ability to be fully present with a family/client. Participants are trained to use reflective practice during supervision sessions between the supervisor and their staff. FAN's ultimate goal is to strenghten the provider-parent/client relationship.

FAN training is different from many other professional development opportunities. The training is not just for individuals, but instead a group or team of practitioners attend the initial two-day Core Training with a designated supervisor. After the initial two day training, supervisors will receive monthly mentoring to use reflective practice with their teams as outlined below.
