Who we are

Meridian Housing Foundation is a public, non-profit housing provider that has served the Tri-Region for more than 65 years. We serve individuals, families and seniors in Parkland County, Spruce Grove and Stony Plain. Our work includes affordable housing, including seniors’ housing, rent assistance, supportive and independent lodge living.

Our purpose is to provide affordable housing solutions for Tri-Region residents. We work toward a vision of communities where people have access to safe, comfortable, accessible and well-maintained housing. Our work is rooted in community, dignity and respect, safety and stability, and accountability.

Horizon View Lodge: A new home taking shape

For those learning about the project for the first time, Horizon View Lodge began as the Spruce Grove Supportive Living Lodge project—a partnership between Meridian Housing Foundation, the Government of Canada, the Government of Alberta, Parkland County, the City of Spruce Grove and the Town of Stony Plain.

Horizon View Lodge will include 102 suites—studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom homes—giving seniors the opportunity to live in a safe, welcoming place close to family, friends and the community they know.

Construction began in August 2024. The project is fully funded and nearing completion and expected to open in January 2027. The lodge will welcome seniors aged 65 and older who are functionally independent, with or without Home and Community Care. Horizon View Lodge offers a variety of thoughtfully designed suites, each with a kitchenette and three-piece bathroom. Residents can also enjoy welcoming shared spaces for dining, recreation and spending time together.

Residents will receive three meals and three snacks each day, light housekeeping, activities and emergency response. Non-medical team members will also be on site 24 hours a day, seven days a week. These supports are intended to help residents feel comfortable, maintain their independence and stay connected to family, friends and community.

How to apply

If you or someone you care about may be a good fit for Horizon View Lodge, visit the Horizon View Lodge page to learn more about the suites, services and eligibility. The page also includes answers to commonly asked questions.

Wellness this fall

Get active in a way thats right for you

Staying active does not have to look the same for everyone. It might be a walk, a game, time in the garden, a creative project, learning something new or a conversation with a friend. During Active Aging Week, October 5–11, 2026, we are celebrating the many ways people stay active, connected and involved in everyday life.

Stay well this fall

Fall brings cooler weather, time together and respiratory virus season. Influenza, RSV and COVID-19 can be more serious for seniors. Simple steps can help protect you and the people around you: stay home when you are sick, wash your hands often, cover coughs and sneezes, avoid touching your face and clean commonly touched surfaces.

Some visitors are worth the wait!

After rain delayed visits in July and August, Chicken John’s Petting Zoo brought an afternoon of animal visits to Whispering Waters Manor.

Residents and some excited great-grandchildren enjoyed meeting the animals up close, with some even joining them in the pen. Others stayed cozy indoors and watched from their suites or the dining room. It was a wonderful opportunity for residents, families and the team to spend time together, share some joy and make memories close to home.

Thank you to John, Elaine and their volunteers for bringing such a wonderful variety of animals and giving our residents so much to enjoy.
