September is shaping up to be a busy month at Lineweaver!

We have our next PTO meeting and first Site Council meeting on September 9, the first parent-teacher conferences of the year, and two upcoming fundraisers.

There is a lot happening, and we hope families will stay connected and involved wherever they can.

For more information and upcoming dates, check out our event calendar:

Did you Know?

TUSD has announced that it will begin considering school closures and consolidations, with several community meetings planned in September before those decisions move forward.

We know news like this can bring a lot of questions and uncertainty for families. Our schools are more than buildings. They are places where children grow up, friendships are formed, teachers build lasting relationships, and entire communities come together.

TUSD is encouraging families, staff, and community members to take part in these upcoming meetings, learn more about the process, and share their thoughts directly with the district.

  • September 21, 6:00–8:30 PM at Sahuaro High School
  • September 23, 4:00–6:30 PM at Cholla High School
  • September 26, 9:00–11:30 AM at Catalina High School

We encourage anyone who is interested or concerned to stay informed and make their voice heard as this process moves forward.

Bike Bus Update

We have heard from many families interested in starting a bike bus to Lineweaver, and we are excited to begin organizing the first group with Living Streets Alliance.

Families who have already reached out can expect to hear from us by the end of September with next steps and information about the first route.

There is still time to join! If your family may be interested in riding with the bike bus, email us at lineweaverpto@gmail.com so we can include you as planning moves forward.

September Events

September 9

Join us for our next PTO meeting at 6:00 PM. We will hear updates on what is happening around Lineweaver this month and vote on three PTO grant requests that would provide additional support and opportunities for our students and teachers.

All families are welcome to attend and be part of the conversation.

September 9

Lineweaver’s next School Site Council meeting will be held on September 9.

The meeting time and additional details will be shared soon by Mrs. Georgelos.

Site Council is another great way for families to stay informed about what is happening at the school and hear about important topics affecting Lineweaver.

September 16-19

Parent-Teacher Conferences are a great opportunity to connect with teachers, hear how the school year is going, and talk about student progress and goals. Teachers will reach out directly with information about scheduling and available times.

These will also be early release days, so families should plan accordingly.

September 19-20

Not another dine-out night! This year, we are trying something a little different.

Join us at Walpole’s Bricks & Sips on September 19 and 20 for some creative fun while supporting Lineweaver PTO. A portion of all kit rentals will come back to the PTO to help fund programs and opportunities for our students.

September 25

Join us at Skate Country from 5:00-7:00 PM for a fun night out with Lineweaver families!

Admission is $5, with skate rental available for an additional $5.

Come skate, spend time with friends, and support Lineweaver while enjoying a fun family night together.

Community Connections

We are working to expand Lineweaver’s community partnerships this year, and sometimes the best connections are already within our own school community.

If you work for a company that supports local schools or nonprofits through donations, sponsorships, employee matching, volunteer grants, community giving programs, or other opportunities, we would love to hear from you. The same goes if you have a personal connection to a local business, nonprofit, professional organization, or community group that may be interested in supporting Lineweaver.

You do not need to make the ask on our behalf. Simply making an introduction or pointing us toward the right person or program is incredibly helpful. We are happy to take it from there.

Every connection helps us create more opportunities and support for Lineweaver students, teachers, and families.

Fall Festival Information

Fall Festival planning is underway, and we would love to have more families be part of it.

You do not need to take on a huge role to help. A single idea, one volunteer shift, a business connection, a donated item, or simply joining a planning meeting to see what is needed can all make a difference. And if you have a bigger idea or want to take ownership of part of the event, we would love that too.

Nothing is too small, and nothing is too big. Join us at an upcoming planning meeting and help us build a great 70th birthday celebration for Lineweaver.
