Join Lineweaver families for a night of hockey with the Tucson Roadrunners on Sunday, February 28!

Leading up to the game, the PTO will be giving away tickets at events, plus chances to win special game-day experiences like Zamboni rides, penalty box visits, and more. Everyone attending with Lineweaver will also have the opportunity to participate in the High Five Tunnel!

Want to make sure you are there? Buy your tickets now to secure your spot and help support the Lineweaver PTO.

Did you Know?

We are excited to share that Reading Seed from Literacy Connects will be coming to Lineweaver thanks to a generous donor who made a gift directly to the Lineweaver PTO specifically to fund the program.

A big part of making that happen was Mrs. Gordon, who not only volunteered to lead Reading Seed at Lineweaver, but also spoke with the donor and helped introduce the opportunity. Our teachers and staff see firsthand where additional support can make a difference, and we are incredibly fortunate to have people at Lineweaver who are willing to advocate for those opportunities and help turn them into something real for students.

Reading Seed provides one-on-one reading coaching for students in kindergarten through second grade, helping children build confidence, strengthen their reading skills, and develop a positive relationship with books. The program also provides students with free books selected around their individual interests.

This is exactly the kind of community connection we are hoping to build more of this year. Fundraisers, spirit wear, and restaurant nights all have their place, but every dollar someone invests directly through the PTO is a dollar we can put toward programs and opportunities without first asking our families to spend money.

We want to connect with people who are interested in investing directly in our school and the kids who attend it. In this case, a teacher advocating for her students, a donor choosing to support the PTO, and a strong local literacy program all came together to bring something new to Lineweaver.

If you or someone you know works with a business, organization, or individual interested in supporting our students, please connect us. Sometimes an introduction is all it takes.

Fall Festival Update

This year’s Fall Festival is becoming much more than games and food. We are excited to have community organizations joining us throughout the evening, including Living Streets Alliance, Saguaro City Music Theatre, Tucson Alliance for Autism, and more.

The Tucson Fire Department will also be on site with a fire engine for students to explore!

Bringing these organizations onto campus is part of our goal of connecting Lineweaver families with the people, programs, and resources that make Tucson such a strong community.

We still need volunteers to help make the night happen. Even volunteering for a short shift makes a big difference, with help needed for games, activities, food, ticketing, setup, cleanup, and more.

The Fall Festival is Friday, November 13 from 4–7 PM.

Upcoming Events

September 16-18

Parent-Teacher Conferences are coming up and are a good chance to check in with your child’s teacher, talk about how the year is going, and discuss progress, goals, or any questions you may have.

Teachers will contact families directly with scheduling information and available conference times.

Please remember that conference days are also early release days, so families should plan ahead for the adjusted schedule.

Fundraiser

September 19-20

We are really excited about this one because it is not another dine-out night.

Join us at Walpole’s Bricks & Sips on September 19 and 20 for a fundraiser that gives families a chance to try something fun together while supporting the Lineweaver PTO.

Walpole’s is a local brick-building café where kids and families can choose from themed LEGO-style sets and spend time building together. It is a great way to enjoy the kind of big, elaborate sets kids love without having to bring home another $200 box of bricks.

Even better, this fundraiser runs all day on both Saturday and Sunday, so there is no set event time. Stop in whenever it works for your family, build for a while, and help support Lineweaver at the same time.

September 25

Lace up your skates and join Lineweaver families at Skate Country on from 5:00-7:00 PM!

This is an easy one: bring the kids, meet up with friends, skate for a couple of hours, and enjoy a Friday night together with the Lineweaver community.

Admission is just $5, with skate rental available for an additional $5.

Whether your kids are flying around the rink or holding onto the wall for dear life, come out and have some fun with us!

Fry's Community Rewards

Did you know that last year, Fry’s Community Rewards brought in enough money to completely cover the cost of homework folders for Lineweaver students?

It is one of the easiest ways to support the school because there is nothing extra to buy. Once your Fry’s account is linked to Lineweaver Elementary PTO, you shop like you normally would, scan your rewards card or enter your phone number at checkout, and Fry’s gives back to the PTO.

Sign up online and search for Lineweaver under the organization name. Once your card is linked, just shop and scan as usual.

It is a simple way to turn groceries you are already buying into support for Lineweaver students and teachers.

Looking for Something?

Are our Sunday newsletters completely lost in your inbox by Tuesday? We get it.

If you need to find something again, check the PTO website. We keep our event calendar, meeting agendas and minutes, volunteer opportunities, fundraiser information, and other current updates there so you do not have to dig through old emails.

Think of it as the place to go when you remember, “Wait, what was that thing the PTO mentioned?”
