Bandology – More music for more kids
|
Spring is in full swing and we are ready for it!
|
As the colder weather wraps up, we are waving good-bye to chilly snow and saying hello to warm sunshine! This March, we embraced the beginnings of spring with our March Break Music Camp where we introduced and nurtured kids' appreciation for music. We hope everyone who participated enjoyed their week of music making and friendship building!
Summer is approaching, so it’s time to figure out your plans! If you’re looking for a summer position with Bandology, now is the time! Send in your resume as soon as possible in order to get the chance to be a part of our Bandology team. Or, if you’re looking for the right camp for kids grade 1-12, Band Camp registration is open and waiting for you!
We were lucky enough to have a student group from the University of Waterloo with us for the last five weeks. We extend our appreciation and gratitude towards our WE Accelerate team as they continue their post-secondary ambitions.

March Break - What a Wonderful Week!
|
Another year of hosting March Break Music Camp reminds us of why we continue to run camp year after year!
A love for music, at any age, can improve academic performances, mental health, social and communication skills, fine motor skills, cooperation and teamwork skills and lead to post-secondary success. When children attend our March Break Music Camp, we hope to foster an environment where they can leave with newfound or improved capabilities that will carry them throughout their lives.
From exploring all sorts of instruments to simply making a new set of music friends; we truly had something for every camper this year!
So, one last round of applause for our campers, volunteers, clinicians, guests and wonderful team! Thank you to all of those who participated and made this week another impactful and memorable camp experience.
If you missed March Break Music Camp, then don't forget to sign up for Band Camp this summer! Find more and register now at bandology.ca/band-camps.

Meet Our WE Accelerate Team
|
Bandology is honoured to have had a WE Accelerate group from the University of Waterloo join our team for the past month of March. This group of five students joined us for their co-op experience and have been working hard to make our online presence more accessible for all.

Gulmackay Bandash (she/her) is a Public Health student. She has had a profound love of music since childhood, going out of her way to explore different genres and artists from all around the world. Ian Ferguson (he/him) is a dedicated student and music lover pursuing an undergrad in Materials and Nanoscience. After (gracefully) failing his journey to learn the trombone, he has enjoyed listening to music from all kinds of cultures, genres and artists.
|
Jacinta Estabillo-Dumville (she/her) is currently completing her English Language and Literature degree. Her appreciation and passion for music developed from an early age in honour of her family filling their home with instruments and sound. Jacinta cares most about how music brings people together and the communities that are formed around it!
|
Marcus Young (he/him) is currently in his first year of Architectural Engineering. His journey in music began with piano lessons at age six, followed by nearly a decade of playing the clarinet. Although he is now focused on engineering, he still appreciates the creativity and teamwork that music has instilled in him.
|
Matus Lau (he/him) is currently studying Environmental Engineering. His musical journey began at a young age, with piano lessons until grade 11 and clarinet in high school band.

Call for Proposals from Student and Early-Career Composers
|
Each year, Bandology commissions a new piece of repertoire to be played and premiered at our summer Band Camp program. We strive to provide opportunities for Canadian early-career and young composers, and we make the choice to feature underrepresented composers.
If you are a student or recent graduate of a Canadian post-secondary music program, consider applying to our 2026 Call for Proposals. The successful composer will receive a cash prize, feedback from published Canadian composers, online profiles and an invitation to the world premiere of their piece in July 2026 at Band Camp!
