What's Happening at Lineweaver

There is a lot happening around campus as our fall clubs and activities continue to build momentum.

Drama Club and Writing Club are both underway, giving students more opportunities to get creative, build confidence, and connect with classmates outside the regular school day. Forms are still available at the front desk for interested students. Ecology club coming soon so be on the lookout for more information.

Cross Country also had a big milestone this past week, with our Lineweaver runners participating in their first TUSD-wide meet of the season and representing our school alongside students from across the district.

It was also great seeing so many Lineweaver families out supporting our recent PTO fundraisers at Walpole’s and Skate Country. These events are always a fun way to bring families together while helping support programs and opportunities for our students.

And a little delayed reward from our August Peter Piper Pizza fundraiser: Ms. Croell’s 2nd grade class enjoyed their hard-earned pizza party this past Friday after earning the top participation prize for the fundraiser.

It is great to see so many different opportunities taking shape for students, families, and our broader Lineweaver community.

Did you Know?

It is not always easy to tell exactly where your donation goes, so we wanted to make that a little clearer.

Our new A La Carte Support page lets families and community members choose exactly what they would like to support. Instead of making a general donation, you can help fund specific school needs, student programs, teacher grants, field trip transportation, and other items that directly benefit Lineweaver students.

Grant requests listed on the page may also include opportunities for sponsor recognition. We recently saw that in action when Sport Sitters sponsored Mrs. Richey’s request for water distribution for the portable classrooms. Because the request was fully sponsored, we were able to move quickly and expedite the entire process.

One of the A La Carte options is sponsoring a field trip bus. Each bus can carry two classes and costs $150 total.

When a field trip note comes home asking families to contribute $5, that amount assumes a good number of families will be able to send money. When they cannot, the remaining cost does not disappear. The PTO helps cover the difference.

We want every student to have the opportunity to experience field trips and other activities without the burden of participation falling on a parent who may not be able to contribute at that moment. One of our goals this year is to cover all field trip transportation costs so teachers and families do not have to worry about whether enough money will come in to make a trip possible.

That only happens when families who are able to give a little more choose to support more than just their own child. By sponsoring an entire bus, you are helping create an opportunity for two classrooms of students and giving teachers the freedom to plan knowing transportation is already covered.

That is the idea behind A La Carte Support: make school needs visible, let donors choose exactly where their support goes, and help get resources to students and teachers faster. We will be updating this list as specific needs come up that the PTO is asked to cover financially.

Sunday Funday

Nothing formal, just a little Sunday morning fun.

We will be at Himmel Park on Sundays from 8:00–10:00 AM, usually near the kids’ playground off Tucson Boulevard. Bring an activity, a snack, or just yourself and the kids.

There is no RSVP, no schedule, and no commitment. Stay for 20 minutes or the whole morning. We are already planning to be at the park, and thought it would be nice to make it an open invitation for other Lineweaver families who want to get out of the house, let the kids play, and get to know a few more people from school.

If it is just us on a Sunday, that is perfectly fine too. The whole idea is to keep it easy.

Fall Festival Update

Planning for this year’s Fall Festival is continuing to grow, and the evening is shaping up to be a true community event.

Along with games, activities, food, and inflatables, families will have a chance to connect with local organizations including Living Streets Alliance, Saguaro City Music Theatre, Tucson Alliance for Autism, and others joining us throughout the evening.

Local first responders will also be on campus with vehicles and community representatives for students and families to meet.

A big part of what we want this year’s festival to represent is connection. Lineweaver is part of the Tucson community we all love, and we want the festival to reflect that by bringing more of that community onto campus and strengthening the relationships around our school.

There is still plenty of work to do before November, and volunteers will be an important part of making the evening run smoothly. Help will be needed with games, activities, food, tickets, setup, cleanup, and other small jobs throughout the event. Even a short shift helps.

The Fall Festival is Friday, November 13 from 4:00–7:00 PM.
