![]() A Little Music, a Little Madness and a Monster BallOctober is shaping up to be one of those months at The REES that reminds us just how much fun it is to have this historic theatre right in the heart of downtown Plymouth. We’re kicking things off with a trip back to the decade of big hair, bigger music and unforgettable hits when Sunglasses at Night takes the stage. If you love the music of the ’80s, this is your excuse to dig into the back of the closet, grab some friends and come spend the evening with us. It should be a great way to start a very fun month. But then things get a little spooky. This October, we’re throwing open the doors for The Monster Ball at The REES, and we want this to become the Halloween party everyone is talking about. The Monster Ball is also a fundraiser benefiting The REES, which means you can have a great night out while supporting the continued programming and preservation of our historic theatre. We’re transforming The REES for a night of music, dancing, costumes, signature cocktails, great food and drinks, and plenty of surprises. We’ll also have a silent auction filled with some terrific items and experiences donated by local businesses and supporters — so come prepared to do a little bidding between dances! And yes, there will be prizes, so start thinking about those costumes now. But costumes are completely optional — come dressed up or come as you are. Either way, come ready to have a great time! We are especially grateful to the businesses that have already stepped forward to help make the Monster Ball possible: DC Garage Doors, Carmien & Pedavoli Dentistry, First Federal Savings Bank and Zentis. Their sponsorship helps us create a memorable night for our community while supporting The REES and the work we do all year long. The Monster Ball isn’t intended to be just another event on the calendar. We want it to feel like a true night out — the kind of evening where you gather your friends, dress up, walk into this beautiful old theatre and see it transformed into something completely different. There is something pretty special about celebrating Halloween in a building that has been part of Plymouth since 1940. If these walls could talk, imagine the stories they could tell. For one night, we’re going to add a few more. Best of all, every ticket purchased, every auction bid and every drink enjoyed helps support The REES and our mission to keep this historic theatre active and thriving in downtown Plymouth. And we’re not finished. We’ll close out our Halloween festivities by partnering with the Marshall County Historical Museum following their Ghost Walk. After exploring some of the stories and mysteries of Plymouth’s past, guests can make their way to The REES for a showing of the comedy classic Young Frankenstein. It’s hard to imagine a better movie to end a night of ghosts and local history. One of the things I love most about what is happening at The REES is seeing our downtown organizations working together. When an event at one location leads people to another, everybody benefits — our organizations, our businesses and our downtown. So this October, come see us. Come sing along to the music you remember from the ’80s. Come laugh with us at Young Frankenstein. But most of all, get your friends together, start planning those costumes — or just come as you are — and meet us at the Monster Ball. Halloween only comes once a year. We think it’s worth having a ball. Want to help keep The REES thriving?Text REESFUND to 44321 or click the Donate Today button below!
