Dear Friends,
As we close out this year, we are filled with gratitude for the incredible support, collaboration, and dedication of our network. Together, we have advanced awareness, strengthened communities, and created spaces for healing and understanding. Because of you, in 2025 we made significant advances in:
Strengthening ICSA’s infrastructure and access
-
We launched a fully redesigned ICSA website, including a comprehensive rebrand and a more intuitive, user-centered experience that improves accessibility, navigation, and engagement.
-
We launched ICSA’s online library, making more than 40 years of publications, conference proceedings, and archival materials accessible through a centralized, searchable platform.
-
In July we introduced the ICSA Service Provider Directory, a new tool designed to help individuals, families, and professionals more easily find ethical, cult-informed services aligned with their needs. The directory currently includes more than 50 published listings, with additional providers in review.
Expanding knowledge dissemination and reach
-
We brought ICSA Today fully online, enabling streamlined publication of new and archival works and expanding its reach through the website and Substack. In its first six months, the publication reached more than 8,000 subscribers and generated close to 100,000 views.
-
We continued to serve as a trusted resource for journalists, policymakers, and institutions seeking evidence-based perspectives on coercive control and high-control groups.
Convening the field and strengthening community
-
We hosted the 2025 ICSA International Conference, bringing together over 200 registered participants, including 82 speakers from 17 countries, and advancing cross-disciplinary dialogue across psychology, law, sociology, education, and survivor advocacy.
-
We grew ICSA’s membership, welcoming more than 200 new supporting members and increasing engagement across clinicians, researchers, educators, and individuals with lived experience.
Ensuring strong governance
None of this would have been possible without your involvement. Whether you contributed research, shared expertise, participated in conferences, supported our programs, or sustained ICSA through membership and donations, your engagement directly strengthens the integrity and impact of this work.
As we look ahead to 2026, we are focused on deepening research capacity, expanding professional and public education, and strengthening international collaboration—so that coercive abuse is more clearly recognized, more effectively addressed, and less easily ignored.
Thank you for being part of this community. We wish you rest, reflection, and renewal in the year ahead.
With heartfelt appreciation and on behalf of the board of directors,
Jackie Johnson
Executive Director
