November Clean Up & Green Ambassador Workshop

From Cleanups to Circular Design: On Saturday, our Green Ambassador session featured a park cleanup followed by a workshop where speakers, including Dr. Gaurav Shekhar, Dr. June Ann Jones, and innovator Purva Chawla, explored smarter consumption and creative waste-to-material solutions.

From Heritage to Habitat Protection: On Native American Heritage Day, our community joined together for a meaningful clean-up from Montopolis Bridge into Roy G. Guerrero Park, honoring the land while removing litter to protect green spaces and waterways. Volunteers helped preserve local wildlife habitats and celebrated Montopolis’s rich history through action.

December Clean Up & Green Ambassador Workshop

Join us December 13th at Bonnie Wenk Park for a cleanup and Green Ambassador workshop, where Prof. John McCaskill and Philip Samson will unpack how the economy drives environmental sustainability and the path to a greener future.

This holiday season, OEOC’s upcoming Plant the Future campaign will encourage families to give the gift of trees by supporting our My Forest Fund. Every contribution helps expand local tree canopy and inspires kids to grow something that lasts.

- Nov 1: OEOC and community volunteers added 400 native plants to McKinney Green Gardens, strengthening local ecosystems and enhancing this outdoor classroom for sustainable gardening and wildlife support.
- Nov 1: OEOC and partners joined UTD JSOM Day of Service to plant 50 trees at Ferguson Park and George W. Truett Elementary, bringing new shade and green space to a tree-bare campus despite the rainy weather.
- Nov 5: OEOC participated in the MEED Center’s Women Shaping Tomorrow panel, where Geeta Menon joined fellow nonprofit leaders to discuss strategies and inspiration for shaping a better future.
- Nov 6: OEOC celebrated Texas Arbor Day by planting over 100 trees at Breckinridge Park in Richardson, joined by Mayor Amir Omar, community volunteers, and partners honoring Rajiv Suresh through this meaningful reforestation effort.
- Nov 7: OEOC marked Texas Arbor Day by planting 12 trees to support climate action and healthier communities, with generous support from B-TRNSFRMD and Nalini Joshi.
- Nov 11: OEOC presented on Sustainable Diets at Meditation Magic’s Elevate: 111 Days of Conscious Living, where Geeta Menon highlighted how plant-based, organic, and locally sourced foods can reduce environmental impact and support healthier communities.
- Nov 15: OEOC hosted a soulful Ghazal Night, celebrating timeless melodies and heartfelt poetry that transported attendees through music, emotion, and nostalgia.
- Nov 21: This Green Friday, OEOC encouraged mindful choices—buy only what’s needed, support eco-friendly products, or skip shopping altogether and give back by donating to tree-planting efforts.
- Nov 22: OEOC partnered with Energy Transfer, Texas Trees Foundation, and Dallas Parks to plant 50 trees at Anderson Bonner Park, helping reduce urban heat, improve air quality, and boost tree canopy in District 11.
