Spring is right around the corner, and the Ivanhoe Neighborhood Center is buzzing with activity! As the days get longer and the weather begins to warm, our calendar is filling up with opportunities to connect, learn, and grow together.
From engaging workshops and enriching youth programs to special community events and food distributions, there’s something for everyone this season. We invite you to join us, bring a neighbor, and be part of the vibrant spirit that makes Ivanhoe such a special place.

Saturday, March 7th from 10am–12pm is our annual Ivanhoe Seed Swap! Come trade, gift, or pick up the seeds you need to get your garden growing this season. Connect with community partners like Missouri Organic, Compost Collective KC, Heartland Conservation Alliance, and Bridging The Gap. We’ll also have free seeds available from Kansas City Community Gardens, Kansas City Public Library, Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds, and Buffalo Seed Company.

Job Fair & Development Workshops

Connect with local employers, explore job opportunities and gain valuable skills to boost your career at the Ivanhoe Job Fair on Tuesday, March 24th from 10am-2pm.

Join us for the Ivanhoe Easter Egg Hunt on Thursday, April 2nd at 5:00 PM! Children ages 0–12 are invited to participate in a fun evening of hunting for free eggs and taking photos with the Easter Bunny. Parents and guardians must attend the celebration with the children. After the egg hunt, families are invited to stay for a Family Financial Workshop at 6:00 PM, where you can learn helpful tips and resources for managing household finances.

Join us for the Ivanhoe Earth Day Festival and Neighborhood Clean Up on April 18th from 11am-2pm a fun and educational celebration for all ages! Explore interactive exhibits, learn about recycling, composting, renewable energy, and wildlife conservation, and discover hands-on ways to care for our planet.

Extension Garden Steward Course
|
The MU Extension Garden Steward Course, is a free 6-hour garden bootcamp on Saturday, March 21st from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM. This hands-on workshop will cover the ground rules of successful gardening, including three-season vegetable gardening, show-stopping flowers, and functional landscapes. Participants will also learn about bug balance, pollinator-friendly practices, and eco-stewardship to help create healthier, more sustainable gardens.

Build your confidence on two wheels with our Bike Workshop Series led by expert instructors from BikeWalkKC, beginning March 22nd. This hands-on series will help participants learn how to safely ride a bike through guided lessons, safety training, and practical riding tips. Participants will also enjoy a supervised neighborhood ride to practice their new skills in a supportive environment. At the end of the series, 10 participants will receive a free bike.

Kansas City 2-Step Classes
|
Hit the dance floor with free Kansas City 2-Step classes every Sunday in March! Learn smooth partner moves, build confidence, and have a great time in a fun and welcoming space. Whether you're brand new to dancing or looking to sharpen your skills, these classes are led by experienced instructors with over 25 years of teaching experience. No partner needed—just bring comfy shoes and good vibes, and get ready to dance!
