District 83 is proud to present the Level UP: Youth Leadership Conference – Voices of the Future on Sunday, May 3, 2026.

We are honored to welcome Dan Rex, CEO of Toastmasters International, as our Special Guest and Keynote Speaker for this event.

This conference is designed to:

  • Showcase inspiring youth speeches
  • Foster leadership skills
  • Empower and elevate young voices

More details and updates will be shared in the coming weeks.

We look forward to your support in making this a truly meaningful experience for our future leaders.

Last year, District 83 was invited to bring the Youth Leadership Program to Woodbrook Elementary School in Edison, NJ, an opportunity that aligned perfectly with our mission to give back to our communities. During the 2024–2025 school year, volunteers Annette DeMondonca, DTM (Highland Park Toastmasters), Pamela Johnson, DTM (Successfully Speak Up Toastmasters), and Srinivas Diddi (JJSC Toastmasters) each coordinated a seven-week after-school program for third-, fourth-, and fifth-grade students. Their dedication and the students’ enthusiasm made the program an immediate success, leading the school to request its continuation for the 2025–2026 school year.

This year, YLP Chair Somesh Chablani, DTM (Conackamack Club), launched the Rising Leaders Club with a fifth-grade class, while Usha Sangepu from the Conackamack Club volunteered to lead the third- and fourth-grade sessions. Their work with these young learners has offered a firsthand look at how early exposure to leadership and public speaking can shape a child’s confidence and character.

Usha shared that coordinating the Youth Leadership Program at Woodbrook has been one of the most rewarding parts of her work with young students. She noted how quickly children rise to expectations when given real responsibility, a supportive structure, and the chance to see themselves as leaders. Third- and fourth-grade students, in particular, absorb lessons on public speaking, teamwork, and leadership with an enthusiasm that will enhance their future education.

She is passionate about teaching students and has seen hesitant students become organizers and reluctant participants grow into problem solvers. These early skills take root quickly and create habits that will benefit the school community for years to come. For her, the experience is a powerful reminder that when students feel trusted and supported, they grow individually and elevate their entire school community.

From the Desk of the Principal

"Partnering with District 83 to bring the Rising Leaders Club Public Speaking and Youth Program to our students has been a transformative experience for the Woodbrook Elementary community. Watching our students embrace real responsibility under the guidance of dedicated mentors like Somesh Chablani and Usha Sangepu has been truly inspiring.

From the Classroom Teacher

"The growth I’ve witnessed in my students since the launch of the Rising Leaders Club Public Speaking Program is remarkable. I’ve watched the students enjoy the class and find their voices. Thank You to the District 83 Leadership Team

District 83 has successfully partnered with the Central Jersey Sewa Foundation to launch a new Youth Leadership Program (YLP) club focused on high school students. This YLP club is sponsored by the Holmdel Toastmasters and led by Jyoti Sahni, the YLP Coordinator, with support from Vanishri Murali, who also serves as the Club Coach and is the District 83 Club Retention Chair.

The first YLP session kicked off on Sunday, March 15, with District 83 Youth Leadership Chair Somesh Chablani, DTM, and District 83 Club Retention Chair Vanishri Murali in attendance.
