Bike Lane Update: ACTION NEEDED

Hi  First name,

The City Manager has quietly asked city staff to remove bike lanes from proposed street improvements for Classen Boulevard between Main Street and NW 10th Street. This would connect an existing bike lane on Classen to an existing bike lane on Main. Currently, the Classen bike lane just dumps you onto 3-lane Classen without warning, which is unsafe. We NEED this connection. We need to FINISH THE JOB!

This behavior comes only weeks after city council members Todd Stone and Mark Stonecipher (both suburban councilors) expressed a willingness to cancel the project.

This is a worrying attempt to interfere with funded infrastructure without input from the public or even city council. The public must have a say on any changes to this important new bike lane.

Please email your city council member (see addresses below) and CC the city manager and mayor. In your email, write about why these (and other) bike lanes being built is important for you, as well as future progress you expect.

If you are able, please show up at the city council meetings on December 16th and 30th and sign up to speak about how bike infrastructure has improved your life. Be polite and respectful, but firm that cancelling new lanes is unacceptable!
