Lean In Ministries, Inc. JUNE 2026 NEWSLETTER“I have one life and one chance to make it count for something… My faith demands that I do whatever I can, wherever I am, whenever I can, for as long as I can with whatever I have to try to make a difference.” Mary Slessor COME MEET & HEAR FROM ONE OF OUR SOUTH ASIA MINISTRY PARTNERSWe have a rare opportunity to welcome our South Asia Ministry Partners, S.P. (initials used for safety reasons), right here and in person in Houston! He and his family are traveling here so his wife can spend time with her family that she has not seen in three long years.
S.P. will be with us on Thursday, June 11th from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Atascocita Spring Creek Barbecue (5613 Farm to Market 1960 Rd E, Humble, TX 77346). We will have a time of fellowship and then will let him speak directly to you about the challenges he is experiencing in his area, including what is really happening at his school and how the church is preparing for coming persecution. You’ll be able to ask him questions about his ministry and life in his country. Above all, you will get to experience stories of how he has had to put faith into action and how God has moved powerfully and specifically in response to his faith.
You will not want to miss this opportunity to hear from a genuine missionary and Christ follower who lives in a very difficult place. Please let us know you are coming by clicking on the Google Form link below.
You'll notice there's an attachment that was sent with this month's newsletter titled "SP Update for LIM Newsletter June 2026." Hear from Board Member and South Asia Trip Leader, Paul Edwards, as he shares an update on the recent, increased persecution against the church in this area, along with applicable prayer points. I pray you take time time read it.
TWO MINISTRIES . . . ONE PURPOSEWhile Lean In Ministries goes out to the indigenous Urarina tribe twice a year, one of the identified needs has been for intentional discipleship and training for the pastors and/or spiritual leaders in these villages. While we, as a team, share the gospel and layer upon decisions that are made with focused discipleship village wide, the leaders need more than the, on average, two hours we are in each village, twice a year. That's where The Cocoma Project comes in. After meeting with their founder and Executive Director, along with the U.S. missionary family that is there full-time, we've been able to work together to coordinate training for the Urarina pastors and spiritual leaders in these remote villages!
Here's some more information about their ministry taken directly from The Cocama Project's website: "Four times a year, dedicated Peruvian river pastors journey up and down the waterways to reach the village of Nueve de Octubre for a pastor training event. During this time, men receive training in biblical teaching and church leadership, while women participate in Bible studies and learn effective methods for community outreach. Children are also reached and drawn closer to the Gospel. Through these gatherings, churches from the United States are partnering together to train and empower local believers who continue to expand the work of church planting and missions among the unreached tribes of the Amazon Jungle."
While Pastor Lorenzo, one of LIM's Ministry Partners, is a regular attender of these pastoral conferences, the other village pastors and spiritual leaders are not. During our recent March trip, arrangements were made for additional leaders to come with Pastor Lorenzo to attend the much needed training. Trip logistics were finalized, including paying for their transportation to the conference, and fifteen people from six of the ten villages we go to ended up making the several days journey to attend the week long training! That's AMAZING!!!! We are so grateful for the training they received and the truth from Isaiah 55:11 that reminds us that “'. . . my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.'”
Please pray for the individuals that attended the training . . . that they continue to grow in their relationship with Him and have been encouraged as they return to their homes to shepherd and lead the believers in their village. We are excited about this ongoing partnership and the eternal fruit that will come from serving alongside one another . . . after all, we are better together!
SOUTH ASIA MINISTRY PARTNER UPDATE & PRAYER REQUESTSGod is SOOOOOO good! Your prayers are being graciously answered . . . far above what we could all ask or imagine! DC's kidney transplant on May 13 (the evening of May 12th here) went GREAT! Things went very smoothly for both he and his wife (his donor), and they surprisingly were released from the hospital around one week post-surgery!
DC's wife did later devoloped lower back pain, and upon further testing, doctors discovered a large gallstone that will likely need to be addressed at a later time. For now, she is thankfully with her husband as they both continue to heal and recover.
DC is recovering comfortably and will remain in isolation for three months and near the hospital and physicians for four months. These protocols will lower the risk of exposure and infection. Friends and ministry workers are able to connect with him virtually. While some of his levels are higher than doctors would like, they are not concerned at this time, as this happens with most transplant patients. He is being watched and monitored closely.
DC has thankfully raised up and trained leaders within his ministry who are beautifully continuing the Kingdom work he so joyfully is a part of! Praise the Lord that the work of the Gospel continues and that disciples are still being made in the name of Jesus . . . even while DC recovers!
DC’s brother who has been and is continuing to coordinate DC’s care needs prayer too. He is getting physically exhausted, understandably so. Caregiving is very time consuming and would benefit from prayer for stamina and good health. DC's brother also recently found out that his wife is having some health issues that need to be addressed. Their sister and her husband plan to step in to temporarily take over overseeing the care of both DC and his wife while DC's brother takes his wife to some appointments to address her health issues.
Please specifically pray for the following:
1. Please continue to pray for DC’s body to heal and not reject the kidney or develop an infection.
2. Praise God that DC's wife is doing so well, and pray she continues to recover, even from the gallstone.
3. Pray for DC's brother and his wife as they navigate both the after care of their loved ones, as well as their own health journey.
Thanks so much for all your continued prayer support!
